Jack's First Day of Preschool

Jack had his first day of preschool today and he LOVED it!  He is in the 3-year old class (he turns three October 2) and will be going for three hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We had gone to check out the classroom yesterday and his teacher Mrs. J came to visit a few weeks ago, so he was ready to go as soon as he walked into class (which was not the case for some of the children, I felt so bad for the ones that were in tears).  He loves the Noah's Ark carpet and sitting on the animals, all of the toys, and the playground.  It's hard to know exactly what he did in class as his usual answer to a question is "yes".  We did see him on the playground when we went to pick him up and all of the other children were holding onto a string to go back inside, except for Jack and another little boy...it looked like they were not finished playing; however, it did look like he went back into class much easier than if it had been me or his dad trying.  His first comment after school this morning was that he wanted to come back tomorrow.  I think I am going to love preschool too...it was nice to spend some time with just Julia and gets some things done while Julia was napping. It was so calm and quiet at our house this morning!  We love you Jack and can't believe that our big boy has already started (pre) school!

Flowers, Stripes & Honey Bees!

I finished my first dress this week...
...and my second!  I love the cute little honey bees and...
...Julia's cute little legs!

Baby Buffet

Jack was in the pantry and couldn't believe his fortune...he found the puffs!  As Jack was chowing down he dumped them all over the kitchen floor and Julia was glad to help pick them up by shoveling them in as fast as she could (it's a horrible picture, but at least the sun was shining)!

The puff buffet was on Friday and then again today Jack was at it again with the puffs...he smiles and poses with the puffs, but rarely for any other picture!

The Science of Art

The Science of Art was our last class of the summer!  Jack loved all of the classes and looked forward to seeing his favorite instructor, Miss Allison.  We can only hope that he likes his preschool teacher half as much as Miss Allison!

Washable Markers

Thank goodness for washable markers!  As I was doing the dishes Jack decided he needed to add a little color to himself!

Another project added to the list...

As if I didn't already have enough uncompleted projects... I decided that I needed to learn to sew (I can sew on a button, but that is about it!), so my mom brought over her sewing machine and gave me a 30 minute lesson and after a few weeks Julia is the proud owner of a cute new shirt!  I will be honest it started out as a dress, but after a few mishaps it turned into a shirt!  I started on a skirt the other night and it should be finished after another night of work...now I just need to find the time to finish it!

Kisses & More

This is how Jack gives out kisses...it's more like a headbutt than a kiss, but at least Julia thinks it's funny!

Jack being Jack...the wanderer!

This shaggy little guy really needs a haircut!

We really tried taking their picture together, but usually it just doesn't work...this is the best of the bunch...

...as most of them look like this...

...and this!

Lickity-Split

I admit it...yesterday we ate ice cream before dinner!  After all of our picture taking we went to Lickity-Split!  Jack & Julia are waiting patiently for their ice cream...

Yummy!

Miss Julia - 11 Months

Little Miss Julia you are 11 months old today!

You are such a sweet little girl and so full of energy...a little mischievous too!  You love to stand up anywhere you can (you stood for the first time by yourself on 8/9).

You yell and scream when you want something (it's usually food).  We have been trying to teach you a few signs and I love it when you ask for more...you changed the sign up a bit and clap your hands when you would like more of something.  Speaking of food...I think the only food that you don't really care for is applesauce.  You eat with gusto...you have recently tried - blueberries, raspberries, watermelon, peaches and you love them all.  This is going to sound really crazy, but sometimes I think you like your vegetables even more than the fruit.  I made you acorn squash the other day and you love mixed vegetable, peas and green beans.  You also love your snack trap.  I can't even take an empty one out of a bag to wash without you throwing a fit!  If you see someone else eating you MUST have some too!  You have six teeth (four on the top and two on the bottom), but that does not seem to slow you down.  You still nurse three times a day and some days you are a good "eater" and other days you could care less.  Only four more weeks until we make the milk switch!

You love to read books, some of your new favorites are Good Night Spot and Baby Faces.  You have started to say something that sounds like baby (ba-ba) when you see babies in books and when you look at yourself in the mirror.  You absolutely LOVE magazines...if we don't want missing pages from our magazines we have to make sure they are out of reach.

You are wearing your 12 months clothes and they fit perfectly (we won't be making the next size switch anytime soon!).

You are a great sleeper, about 12 hours at night and two naps during the day.  You sometimes miss your morning nap when we are out and about and you don't mind a bit.  You will not sleep in the stroller as you think you are going to miss out on something.

As for your favorite toys...you want to play with whatever Jack is playing with!  You love to crawl through the tunnel (speaking of crawling you are now full-time on all fours...no more commando style for you!), play with the music table, play in the pantry (whatever you can get your little hands on) and in your cupboard (you and Jack share a cupboard so you don't get all of the other dishes, pots and pans dirty!).

It's hard to believe that your 1st birthday is only a month away!

Just Like My Brother!

Honestly, sometimes you really remind me of your big brother!  You love playing with the cup holders, just like Jack and...
I can't keep you out of the pantry, just like Jack...

Soap & Suds & First Crush!

We had another great class at Impression 5!  Today's theme was Soap & Suds, so we did a lot of different experiments with soap.  One of Jack's favorite activities was drawing on the table with soap (something we will NOT be doing at home).  Jack LOVES going to Impression 5, but I think one of the reasons he loves to go is that he has a crush on the instructor, Miss Allison.  Not sure who he likes more Miss Allison at Impression 5 or Miss Becky at the library!  It's starting already and he's not even 3 yet!
Isaac was in our class too, so we had a bit of fun in the museum after class!

Touch a Truck Day!

Jack was in all of his glory this morning at Touch a Truck Day!  I think it was the little boy's dream to see all of these trucks at once AND get to touch everything!
Our first stop was the fire engines...
Jack made himself right at home in the police car...
...and the motorcycle!
Julia made friends with the police officer!
Jack loved the "tractor train"!
Another one of the many trucks Jack got to explore!
Julia had fun too, but it's next year that she is looking forward to so she can touch all of the trucks too!

The Pledge of Allegiance

I love that Jack even puts his hand over his heart when he says the Pledge of Allegiance!

JULIA!

It's hard to believe, but I have not taken many photos in the last week...
We went to Impression 5 last Friday and this is the only picture I took!  This was my first time going by myself with Jack & Julia...and all I can say is there was lots of action and no time for pictures!
Saturday we went to the Island Art Fair and then to Delta Mills.  Here Julia is showing off all of her new teeth...all 6 of them!

Preschool Olympics

The Township had Preschool Olympics last night and Jack had a blast!  We played at the park while we waited for the Olympics to start!
Jack and Brianna must have gone down the slide 50 times!
As usual, little Miss Julia can't get enough of the swings!
Pa & Grammy
Jack chillin' in the car
Let the games begin!  There were tons of things to do...basketball, obstacle course, golf, trampoline, bubbles, soccer, football...
Who needs a ball when you can roll yourself into the net!
Jack wasn't about to leave Bri's side...he loved holding her hand!
Jack & Bri admiring his "gold" medal (that everyone got!).  He loves his new "necklace" so much that he wore it most of this afternoon too!

Last Story Time of the Summer

Today was the last story time of the summer...it's so sad that summer is already winding down!

We Voted!

We headed to the polls this morning to cast our ballot!  Jack wanted to get out and "hold my hand" and not go in the stroller, but I knew I could not handle him and voting at the same time!  Luckily I bribed him with a slide that we saw off from the parking lot and he was easily entertained by the fans once we were in the building.  When we left he tells me..."did you know that they had four fans in there?"  That would be two ceiling fans and two fans on the floor...crazy little guy!
We checked out the equipment before we left...
Don't leave a snack trap unattended with this little gal...I turned around to put Jack in the car and she had already shoved a bunch of Jack's TLC's (Tasty Little Crackers) in her mouth, but she needed more...
I guess she was tired of the Cheerios and puffs and needed something a little tastier!
