Uncooperative Subjects

How many pictures do I need to take to get a good one?
More than 60...
Is it too much to ask for both of them to smile and look at the camera at the same time?

We even bribed Jack with a tortilla chip (good idea, but it didn't work!).  Julia wants whatever big brother has so she was trying to get Jack's chip.

After about 60 pictures this was the best of the bunch...oh, well there is always tomorrow...

Julia is much more cooperative, but the photographer had a few issues with shadows...

Strike Up the Band!

Once again we find ourselves in downtown Grand Ledge where there was a band concert on the Opera House Commons.  We found a nice shady spot to sit; however, we were not very close to the band and it was difficult for Jack to sit still...

Dad found a better seat for Jack, right behind the band.  Jack loved it!  He also loved the jet skis that were going past on the river.  He wanted to know what they were called...Jason told him that they were jet skis, but Jack renamed them "Jack skis"!

Sometimes you need an outlet...

mall!  We had to take a break in our shopping for lunch!  I just get excited when I get a picture where everyone (especially Jack!) is looking at the camera!

New Golf Attire

Don't you dress like this on the golf course? Shark pj's and a sticker hat! Jack made his hat at the children's museum and wouldn't even try it on, but he had to wear it to play golf! He couldn't even see where he was going...

Julia's 1st Trip to the Zoo!

Today we went to John Ball Zoo...Julia's first trip to the zoo!  Julia was having a great time...Jack not so much (that's what happens when you don't get enough sleep because you are so excited!).  Jack was mad because he wanted to play on the slides instead of going into the zoo, so he voiced his displeasure half of the time we were there.  Today was the first time that Julia got to hang out in the stroller without her car seat!  She loved checking out all of the people!

Jack finally cheered up a bit when he got to see the monkeys, here he was watching the lions!

Julia watching the lions!

Happy little girl!

Julia's 1st "Vacation"

I say "vacation" as we were only away one night and we were only an hour away from home.  It was more like a practice vacation.  Jack was so, so excited...he kept saying "we're staying at a hotel".  He was constantly bouncing around the room.  I think the last time we even stayed in a hotel was two years ago when Jack was Julia's age.  How do we break it to little Julia that Jack's first vacation was to Evian, France and hers was to Grand Rapids, Michigan (nothing against GR...we love it there and I moved there after college and we lived there when we were first married)?

Another day...another museum!

Another fun museum day!  Tuesday we went to the Grand Rapids Children's Museum.  The construction zone was one of Jack's favorite activities....
We had fun with all of the mirrors...

Jack really had fun with the mirrors...and I think that Jason got some really great pictures!

Julia just had fun...

The Lego's were a hit too!

First Impression

Monday we had a GREAT time in the First Impression room at Impression 5 Museum!  Jack and Julia both loved the huge water table and all of the great toys.  Jack was so excited...there was so much to do!  We are going to sign up for some of the summer classes and will be making many more trips with our new annual pass!

Julia was fascinated by herself...she was making herself laugh...so cute!

ahhhh....

Miss Julia - 8 Months

Little Miss Julia you are 8 months old today!  You are our little sunshine and your smile lights up the room.  You have mastered spinning around in circles and roll everywhere (you do laps around the living room).  You love to play with toys...anything that plays music and anything that you can put in your mouth.  We are still waiting on the arrival of your first tooth.  You are a good sleeper and in the last month you have only woken three times to eat.  You go to bed at 8:00 and wake around 7:00 (6:50 to be precise!).  You are a little alarm clock...you even saved Daddy from being late to work the other day (he feel asleep after he turned off his alarm!).  You nap in the morning and afternoon.  You still nurse "distractedly" four times a day.  You LOVE to eat!  You have not yet met a food you didn't like.  Your favorites are bananas, oatmeal and Mum Mums.  Last week you started saying mama...and you yell it loudly when you want something.  You are quite expressive and you love to laugh and scream (in delight!).  You are wearing your 6-12 month clothes, but you still fit into almost all of your 3-6 month pants.  We love our little sunshine! xoxo

East Lansing Art Festival

We had a fantastic day at the East Lansing Art Festival...food, music & art!

Daddy dressed Jack while Mommy was at yoga class this morning. I got the biggest chuckle out of Daddy and his "mini-me"...polo shirts and khaki shorts!

On the way to the ELAF

Daddy and Jack

Jack was eating the little pieces of ham off the plate (I am not sure that he has ever eaten ham) and he asked me what they were...I told him it was ham and he wanted to know if it was like "Green Eggs and Ham".

Julia enjoyed lunch too...

Jack dressing up as a firefighter in the children's area of the festival...

It's amazing that the photographer got a shot of Jack looking at the camera

Jack loved watching Crazy Richard the hippy juggler.  It was fun to watch Jack as he clapped along and laughed.

This was the sight of Jack's entertainment - he was really funny!

Julia enjoying herself at the festival...she was such a little people watcher!  Julia got a super cute new dress at the festival and I can't wait until she wears it!

Tea for Two + Big Brown George

Jack, Big Brown George and Julia had another tea party this morning.  I asked Jack if Julia should bring her red monkey to the party and he looked at me like I was crazy and says, "No, she needs to bring her purse".

Jack hits the Jackpot!

I am sure that Jack though he hit the jackpot last night!  In addition to the collection of monkeys and bears I found 7 cars in his bed.  Before bed I am sure he was thinking to himself...I hope Dad doesn't notice how close those cars are to my bed.  He had every car within arms reach in his bed.  I can only imagine what we are going to find in his bed once he moves to his toddler bed.  I should have known something was up when he was being so quiet!

Mother's Day Love

It's great to called mom (at this time it's more like mommy!)!  What a fantastic day!

This morning Jack was kind enough to wish me a Happy Mother's Day...All Done!

That Crazy Little Boy!

We spent the entire day at Grandma & Grandpa's on Friday and as soon as we walked in the door Jack headed for the vacuum...no time or need to take off the raincoat!

Grandma is rocking pantless Jack and George in the rocking chairs...

...then Jack (nice nap hair) tried to fit his tush in the little chair!
