Target Bed

A few weeks ago Jack got new bedding at Target so now he calls his bed Target bed (he remembers where we buy everything).  The bedding came with a pillowcase so I switched his little pillow for a big one (he calls his pillow a "pillow fight" from one of his favorite books, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake) and he really hasn't gotten the concept of putting his head on it.  This is how he sleeps...

On another note, I think maybe we take him shopping too much.  When we drive down the street he calls out the stores...Menards, Kohl's, Babies R Us, the mall, TJ Maxx (he calls it PJ Maxx), Hobby Lobby, Meijer, Walgreens, Target, Barnes & Noble...there are more but I can't think of them now; however, I bet if I ask Jack in the morning he could tell me. He also knows which stores have fans (he is a bit obsessed with them) and where they are located.  He loves going grocery shopping on Sundays...and it's so funny when he says to Jason..."Buddy, what are we looking for?"

Drums!

Jack had his first class at Impression 5 today and the topic was drums.  These pictures make everything look calm, but it was far from it!  Jason was ready to leave with Jack about 15 minutes after class started (he wouldn't sit in the circle, he tried to escape a few times and was swinging his drumsticks at one of the other kids).  He calmed down after a bit and the class was a bit more enjoyable, but boy do we have a lot to learn about following directions and listening!  He was very good at helping clean up and kindly crawled under the table to collect all of the crayons.  It makes me even more nervous about preschool in the fall.  Let's hope that the class next weeks goes a little better!

Julia's First Tooth!

At almost 9 months Julia finally got her first tooth (bottom, left...just so I remember!) and it looks like there are about three more to soon follow!

Toys, Toys...Everywhere!

This little girl was having a grand time playing with her toys and she actually stayed put for a bit, which is rare these days.  It's hard for me to get used to her mobility!  She likes to be where the action is and wants everything her brother has!

Jack on the other hand had to have the Halloween pumpkins to play with that were in the basement storage...I could only reach the orange pumpkin so as soon as his Dad walked in the door from work he wanted him to go downstairs to get the blue one too!  I quickly returned them to the basement after he went to bed and I am hoping that he forgets about them...do I really need to trip over Halloween pumkins in June?

The Pink House Returns

Jack loves the pink house at the blue house (that's what he calls Grandma & Grandpa's!)...
Grandma was lucky to get Jack looking at the camera as he was non-stop action!

Where's My Buddy?

The partially naked Jack (we had just gotten in from outside and his shirt was dirty) entertained himself for at least 30 minutes with the sheet while I was folding laundry...crazy little boy! I love that Julia thought he was funny too!

The Chair Swap

Jack wanted to eat breakfast in Julia's chair...he's as happy as can be....
...until he gets very upset when he realizes that this means that his sister will need to sit in his chair to eat...
...and it doesn't bother her one bit!

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

Today we had our passports for Be a Tourist in Your Own Town and we only had time for one activity (there were so many to choose from!) so we went to Potter Park Zoo.  We had not been in years and we were pleasantly surprised at how much it has changed!  Jack loved the bald eagles and the monkeys!
Julia loved watching all of the action and eating her Cheerios!
When we were watching the monkeys Jack said, "I want to get in there"!

Moving Forward!

A big day for the little girl! In the last month Julia has been rolling and turning in circles to get just about everywhere, but today she started moving forward! It looks like she is going to start with the "camando crawl" just like her brother. She was motivated by her favorite Tea Party book and Mommy's timer.

Library

We have not been to the library in such a long time (I think it must have been last summer!).  Jack met a few new friends and is learning the art of sharing.  He does share, but he says it like it is the most awful thing ever.
Today was Julia's first trip to the library.  We went during her nap time so I was hoping that she would fall asleep...she finally did for a short nap.  She is so unlike her big brother...he loved to sleep in the car seat/stroller/car, but not this girl...I think she is afraid she is going to miss something!
What a difference a year makes...last year I was exhausted after going to the library, partly because I was pregnant, but mainly because I had to chase Jack around the library.  You had to be there to believe it, but the library was an aerobic exercise!  Today I actually read part of a magazine (and took a few pictures) while Jack played and Julia napped!
